After activating the TruConnect SIM card on your phone you receive the ‘Welcome to TruConnect’ message, the next step is to configure your phone with this carrier’s APN. In this article, we shall take a closer look at TruConnect APN settings for access better internet service.

The process of configuring the APN settings will depend on the device you are using. For instance, the TruConnect APN settings of Android phones are different from those of Windows or iOS devices.

TruConnect APN Settings for iPhone

If you are using an iPhone, the first step to get started is to navigate to the ‘Settings’ icon on your TruConnect phone and then tap on the ‘Cellular’ option. Thereafter, tap on the ‘Cellular Data Network’ option and then click on the ‘APN’ option. At this stage, you should key in the following details.

For Cellular data:

  • APN: wap.truconnect.com
  • Username: guest
  • Password: guest

LTE Setup (Optional):

  • APN: <Undefined>
  • Username: <undefined>
  • Password: <Undefined>

For MMS:

  • APN: wap.truconnect.com
  • Username: guest
  • Password: guest
  • MMSC: <Not applicable>
  • MMS Proxy: <Undefined>
  • MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
  • MMS UA Prof URL: apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

Once you are done, click on the ‘Save’ button and then restart your phone.

TruConnect APN settings for Android Phones

The process of configuring TruConnect APN settings on your Android phone is relatively easy and straightforward. To start with, you should go to the ‘Settings’ icon and then tap on the ‘Connection’ option. Thereafter, select the ‘Mobile Network’ option and then tap on the ‘APN’ option. Since you want to add new APN settings, tap on the ‘Add’ button. After that, key in the following details:

  • Name: TruConnect Internet
  • APN: wap.truconnect.com
  • Proxy: <Not set>
  • Port: <Not set>
  • Username: guest
  • Password: guest
  • Server: <Not set>
  • MMSC: <Not set>
  • MMS proxy: <Not set>
  • MMS port: <Not set>
  • MCC: <Not set>
  • MNC: <Not set>

Authentication type:

  • APN type: default, supl
  • APN protocol: IPv4
  • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
  • Bearer: Undefined
  • APN PPP phone number: <Not set>

TruConnect APN settings for Windows Phone

If you want to set TruConnect’s APN settings on your Windows phone, the first step is to navigate to the ‘Settings’ option and then tap on the ‘Network & Wireless’ option. Once you are done, tap on the ‘Cellular & SIM’ option and select your SIM card. Thereafter, tap on the ‘Properties’ option. Under the ‘Internet APN’ option, click on the ‘Add an Internet APN’ and then key in the following details:

  • Profile name: TruConnect 1
  • APN: wap.truconnect.com
  • User name: guest
  • Password: guest
  • Type of sign-in info: Leave it blank
  • IP type: IPv4
  • Proxy server (URL): (Undefined)
  • Proxy Port: (Not applicable)

TruConnect APN settings for Blackberry Phone

In case you have a Blackberry phone and would like to enjoy this carrier’s internet services, you need to set TruConnect APN settings first. To get started, you should first go to the ‘Settings’ option and then click on the ‘Network Connections’ option. Select ‘Mobile Network’ option and then tap on the ‘APN’ option. At this stage, you can now enter the following data:

  • Access Point Name (APN): wap.truconnect.com
  • Username: guest
  • Password: guest

Thereafter, save the added TruConnect APN settings and restart your device.

Change From 4G to 5G APN Settings

To change from 4G to 5G APN settings, you should first navigate to the ‘Settings’ option and then tap on the ‘Connections’ or ‘More’ depending on the phone you are using. Thereafter, tap on the ‘Access Point Names’ options.

Here, you will see the existing APN settings on your device. If it is 4G APN settings and you want to change to 5G APN settings, by tapping the ‘add button so that you can key in a new APN setting. Ideally, your APN details should read as follows:

  • Name: 4.4.8.8.5G
  • APN: 4.4.8.8 5G NOT 4G
  • Server: www.google.com
  • APN type: default
  • APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
  • APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6

Once you are done, tap on the save button and then choose it as your default APN settings. Thereafter, restart your device and you will be good to go.
